We tried to think of a fun activity for our guests who would like an activity that includes sightseeing, taking some photos and us, and perhaps burning those calories once in Korcula. Activity that is not swimming and that one can take upon at any time of the year.
The first activity to recommend to all future visitors – walk through all 26 streets of Old Korcula Town in one go. But we really mean ALL. How much time should you set aside for this endeavor? Half an hour up to 15 minutes if you are a relatively fast runner. If you like taking it easy and slowly, stopping and taking photos, walking instead of running, take anywhere between an hour up to an hour and a half, max 2.
FUN FACT:
Korčula Old Town is built in the unique shape of a fishbone. Streets overlap with the main street, which runs from the southern part all the way to the northern part of the town, dividing it into two equal halves. The streets to the East have been curved for the reason that during the winter months, they protect the town from the constant torture of the Bura wind and the rainy Jugo. On the other side, the West’s streets are straight and freely allow the refreshing western breeze Maestral to flow through them, cooling the town during hot summer months. It is natural and definitely one of the oldest air-conditioning systems adding to reasons you should come, visit and explore Korcula Old Town.
Additionally, a full-time, whole year-round islander who doesn’t want to go to the gym designed a 5-day long ‘exercising regime’ including outdoor activities she was willing to share with the ones we will share with you and us. Activities that you might use as a guideline yourself in case you happen to be in Korcula off-season, in months such as April or May, September or October, wondering what to do if swimming is not an option and life, in general, is much slower than in usual, busier summer months. Of course, all the following activities you can take upon whenever you are in Korcula. Cycle Račišće village (9 kilometers to and back)
WEDNESDAY
Walk the nature park Hober to Naplov area (entrance to the park 10 mins walk away from the hostel)
THURSDAY
Walk or cycle to Lumbarda (4 kilometers to and back)
FRIDAY
Play badminton with someone at Bon Repos Beach in Bay of Shells ( 10 mins walk away from Dragan’s Den hostel)
